This is a very special piece. Its an original piece written by two
members of the VOENA childrens choir. They have both graduated and left
the choir, but while they were part of the childrens choir, they both
wrote songs separately, and they wrote two songs together.
In this video, you are watching them record the song. In addition, there are
some story pieces that help accent the feel of the song.
The scenes of Ella in the forrest and cafe are shot in Mc Cloud, California
where the pair started writing the song. The scenes of snow and city with Max
were shot when they went with the choir to sing at Carnegie Hall.
Then after they recorded the song, Max did the mixing.
So, the video tells the story of the song, plus a story of two young people
learning how to record and produce an original song.
When Christmas Comes to Town
I shot this video outside, then we went inside and shot it again. Both performances
were fabulous. I could have used either and created a great video, but I wanted
to use both. So, I took parts from each and created a hybrid video of in and out.
I have mentioned the performance these kids give. The little one that starts
and ends the video was spot on. I told them all to be happy and full of wonder.
I told her to be sad and sightly confused. She absolutely nailed every take.
This video is a compromise of telling the story of the song and having a choir
singing in place.
This video is also in the "In the Wild" section because part of it was shot
outside. I also wanted to include it here in the "Telling a Story" section.
The telling of the story of the video is blended with a choir singing a
Christmas song, so as not to be too heavy-handed.
